Doubt Poem by Tim Vallie

Doubt

He looks in the mirror
But all he sees is doubt
He puts on a smile
And then he heads on out
He tries to keep on pretending
To make them all go away
Because what's wrong is something
He just cannot say
Unsure of himself
But sure of his feelings
Some older wounds
Feel like their still healing
All people say is
Just cheer up
But when they go away
He's still ready to give up
He's got nothing to say
Because his words don't make sense
Just live for the day
But still he keeps up the defense
He doesn't know how to let it down
Because if he does, he knows how the story will end
It ends with a let down
And then the cycle starts again…
