Doors Poem by Tapera Makadho

Doors

Rating: 5.0

I have seen doors of steel
Doors you dare not knock
Doors that hurt the knocking knuckle

I have seen doors of zinc
Doors that wail should you knock them
Doors that shout to the whole hamlet
Telling cat and dog of who knocked them

I have seen doors of fragile shale
Doors that shatter into shards should you knock them
Doors that you knock shuddering With precocity

I have seen doors of brass
Doors that creak as they open

I have seen doors of hard wood
Doors that are heavy
Doors that you labour to open
Yes, I have seen doors.

I agree with Pam below me.. The poem is more like an extended metaphor on how friendships are formed.. People take time to open up... The task of forming a friendship is akin to opening a door.. There are different levels of strength required.. But what happens when the door opens? ? I have had seen monsters inside the room.. Thanks for sharing Tapera..

Interesting idea to put the idea of doors with friendship in this way. Doors of steel, shale, zinc, brass and hard wood. People who are completely closed off, who gossip, who are fragile and emotional, who open up with difficulty, but then are wide open, and who talk too much. Yes! You have seen doors! Thanks for sharing your metaphoric poem. Well done.
