Dont Forget Poem by John Paul Sam Nkwain

Dont Forget

Don't forget
All struggles will end up in vain
That is the treaty of the heaven-earth accord.
Seeds spawn over the years
And yet there will always be an untimely snip of everyone
when it is time to go.

Don't forget
As you work in the style of the laborious ant,
With a bustling life and activity
Mettling with sterling help to mankind,
Always remember
Not to hope against hope,
Lest you find yourself in a grips of a broad daylight nightmare;
when the untimely time comes.

Don't forget
That you are a sojourner
And that you won't be there
when the quagmire comes
which will inevitably leave onlookers in total cataclysm
And there may be no flicker of hope about you
when it is your time.

Yes, one cannot today refute the veracity
Of the "hard work pays" maxim.
Keep doing good. Don't do evil.
Keep working with verve, vitality and drive.
We may weight your worth only in gold and diamond,
Yet, let the subtle consciousness remain
That those titles, encomiums and superlatives lavished upon you
Are but glittering flowers that will fade and wither.

Don't forget therefore that others came and are gone.
Don't forget that you have come and you will go.
Don't forget that others will come and will go.
Don't forget.
Don't ever forget.
