Don'T Judge Me Poem by Vickey Alexander

Don'T Judge Me

So easy for you
to tell me what
to do
to believe
expressing your thoughts
in anger
never
missing an opportunity
to belittle
and underestimate me

like
I am some stupid fool
unable to think
and you do not
even blink
as you continue
in higher octaves
of how I am wrong
but with this, my resolve
you have made strong
and I stopped listening
a long time ago
cause all I can feel
is your attack
and whether I am wrong
or right
I must fight back
a natural reaction
to you
invalidating me
my world
my beliefs

do you not understand
that there was a life path
to this view
and
instead of trying to understand
what I have been through
you try to pound into me
what I ought to do
to see
to be

and F... you for judging me

and... you know what

I still
don't think I am wrong
but I am willing to listen
when the voices are calm
and the knowledge flows
between you and me
and we
work through this
logically
and in the end
if we still disagree
we can both leave
with our dignity
and a little understanding
in how to proceed
in being the change
in the world
that we want to see
