Don'T Doubt Me Poem by Mary Nagy

Don'T Doubt Me

Don't tell me that I'm doomed to failure
just because I have lived through this pain.
Don't think that my scars are a hindrance
I'll show you how I will sustain.

Don't make me feel that I am a loser
because I have been led to lose.
Don't say that statistically I'm a lost cause.
That's a choice that I have yet to choose.

Don't say that you know I won't make it
because of my parents mistakes.
I've seen what they've done and I've learned.
Now I know what success really takes.

Don't feel for me just out of pity
or your need to have something to say.
My tears have been leading me so far
I am trusting I'll find my own way.

Who cares if you're born to a pauper
or you have the disease in your veins.
Have no doubt that it's you who can make it
In the end it is you that remains.

Never listen to those who will doubt you
they can't see the fire burn in your soul.
I believe you are more than a number
let yourself become spiritually whole.

Positive, and uplifting. A great message of defiance to anyone who has been told they are not good enough. We should never be judged by bad behaviour of others. Thank you for sharing. Kindest Regards Slim. x.

I read this and it hit home. All our lives we were told we would not amount to anything, because of our past. I believe in my heart, you have proved them all wrong. You have proved that no matter what had happened...you are a survivor
