Don'T Crave Money To Vote Poem by Rajendran Muthiah

Don'T Crave Money To Vote

Door to door canvassing for votes
will be nice if we’ve bundles of 2k notes.
The men in new wears go to campaign
and bear the heat drinking champagne.
Once a week, people get water to drink
and hence their health day by day does shrink.

They cultivate some grains in rainy season
and move to towns to earn, the main reason.
Their black soil imbibes enormous heat
and the green crops from the life retreat.
Against the regional parties they are fierce
as they raise all (bus-fare, registration) charges with cheers.

Once they win or lose, the M.Ps don’t come back.
Why shouldn’t they receive the money not fake?
The parties who open the vaults of cash
do have the EVMs with votes amass.
When Nature their poor health robs,
w hy should the people refuse bribes or stop sobs?

They are sure to bring in Delhi a change
or else to wipe out Tamils in Eelam, they’d arrange.
Don’t preach them honesty like a sage.
Can the starving refuse ten times of daily wage?
“Don’t crave for money to vote”, you teach.
Throw off your Debit cards before you preach.

The robbers smuggle out ‘ganja’ from our hills
and get back gold and their party-coffer fills.
When the bags of cash rush to villages to wet,
catch them, the Election Commission in a net.
Let the snow fall like rains in these days scarce
and from the swindled lands and gold receive the shares.

Amend the Constitution you learned fools
and seize their ill-got wealth by stringent rules.
The politicians play T20 Cricket
and the hooligans hike the rate of ticket.
Let the shutters of Swiss-bank open for the breeze
to blow and their bloated accounts here to freeze.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
M.P - Members of Parliament. EVM- Electronic Voting Machine.
In villages the people don't have drinking water. Have no power supply in the day. The cost of lands has gone up as the politicians have bought enormous lands for huge costs from their swindled money.
