Don'T Be Like Me Poem by Ray Hansell

Don'T Be Like Me

Words of love come flowing
From deep inside my heart
I guess that’s the perfect place
For love to have a start

It’s a warm and wonderful feeling
That doesn’t happen every day
But please be very careful
If love should come your way

Never take it for granted
Never think of love as a game
The minute that you do that
Your heart will fill with pain

The pain of a broken heart
Can last for so very long
It will affect you deeply
Even if you think you’re strong

I have played around before
I have lost at love
Looking back I still don’t know
Just what I was thinking of

So if you have someone who loves you
Be as faithful as you can be
I speak from experience
Please, don’t end up like me

Your life could be sad and lonely
You’ll sleep each night alone
You may live inside your house
But your heart is not at home

A home is a warm and loving place
Where love is alive and well
A life that lived all alone
Can truly become a living hell
