Don'T Ask Me Again Poem by Luke Easter

Don'T Ask Me Again

Every morning is the same not every now & then,
I start brewing cups of my favorite morning blend,
Sipping peace and tranquility love flows to begin,
But, not before coming to terms as mutual friends.

Okay, how did we come to be here, ask me again?
Quietly, resting with our eyes ajar I give you lend,
Not just when you feel like going out or coming in,
So not alone we’re intoxicated by each other’s skin.

We are but silence in a trance while bound by a spell,
Laying words in my mouth only what you want to tell,
With my face inside your eyes as a tortoise in it’s shell,
Reading in a corner bookstore, in reality all is not well.

Same time, same day, same year, it never comes to pass,
Same second no matter why aren’t dreams meant to last?
Novels never hasten to enlighten they destroy my mirage,
Love converging in unison there should be no espionage.

The sun turns into an ocean every night it sets in the west,
Only to rise on land in the east and this is fact not a guess,
Flowers in our relationship can bloom in the midnight sun,
However, not without the moon because 2 are better than 1.

Shall there ever be a fortified union or any kind of solidarity?
I don’t know, neither is there an attitude of let’s wait and see,
Time is the only thing in the world that will never stand still,
Sorry, life was not created just for you to have a solemn thrill.

Noah built the ark and God commanded he bring aboard pairs,
What good is it to have one over here and the other over there?
One can’t be floating to safety while one is drowning in the sea,
Selfishness is the permanent separator there’s no more you & me.

No couple will never unite as a single where there is a multiple plan,
Contrary to popular belief rules aren’t made to be broken understand?
NATO, Fair Housing, The League of Nations, any agreement or pact,
Can only succeed together, here am I but where in the heck are you at?

Right now my confidence in your faithfulness is 0 on a scale of 1 to 10,
I need a relationship built on love’s foundation not a cornerstone of sin,
Soulful harmony’s impossible when the beginning looks bleak as the end,
So if gratification is the only priority I refuse to dwell in your lion’s den.

Today only, will we stroll the bridge together or sadly stagger across?
Hands must be interlocked at night or one of us is sure to become lost,
A tiny gap in the fabric or a small hole in the fence, we need to mend,
And so, until all of the repairs are completed, “Don’t Ask Me Again.”
