Don't Ask Poem by Lora Colon

Don't Ask

Rating: 5.0

Love's ecstasy flew on gilded wings
To a heart laden with woe,
Like flower buds, my dreams opened,
Then cruel Fate struck its deadly blow;
Now I walk a lonely path again,
But I'll forget him..... just don't ask when

My anguished heart was stripped of its dreams,
Deprived of its guiding star;
How long does a heart take to heal?
Will a wound this deep leave a scar;
Though my world is crumbling 'round me now,
I must carry on..... just don't ask how

Fate has spoken, but life must go on,
Alone, I bitterly weep;
I've climbed the Hill of Tears before,
But never has it been this steep!
Each day, dark clouds are filling my sky,
And yet, I still hope..... just don't ask why

But should abandoned hearts dare to hope
Lost love will return again?
Late last night while I prayed aloud
Crying angels sighed their Amen;
You may see me smile, (that's just a mask) ,
Do I still miss him? O, please, don't ask!

Beautiful words expressed with heartache. This is a boat that many of us have sailed and many masks have been worn. Thank You Lora Great work
