Does The City Ever Sleep Poem by Brian Stafford

Does The City Ever Sleep

There goes Johnny and the cleaners,
working through the night;
Trundling through the streets,
to keep them clean n' bright;
There's straggler's going home,
after a really heavy night;
Worker's fill the street's,
before the break of light;
Filling up the office's, the shop's
and all kind of stores;
People rushing through, they're late,
or they've missed the bus;

Does the city ever sleep,
ever sleep,
ever sleep;

There goes Tammy and the students,
off to learn some more;
Emptying the hall's of residence,
to fill the rooms of knowledge;
They ready for the challenge,
they're eager for some more;
There goes Sammy and the shoppers,
hunting with the hordes;
Clutching bag's of shopping,
like spoil's of the war;
The battle in the shops,
as left them bruised and sore;

Does the city ever sleep,
ever sleep,
ever sleep;

There goes Robbie and the parties,
to fill the clubs and bars;
The flashing of the lights,
people spilling out of car's;
The sound of all the music,
and the buzzing in the street;
All doing crazy dancing,
to the rhythm and the beat;
Here comes Johnny and the cleaners,
working through the night;
They go about there business,
to them it's just another night;

Does the city ever sleep,
ever sleep,
ever sleep;
