Do You Remember? Poem by G. Akanji Olaniyi

Do You Remember?

Memories linger on
The mind plays the game
Deception is the root
But the heart is a better gauge
Wished you still remember?
Do you still remember?
The heart I gave to you
How it got tore into pieces
The love I had for you
How it got soured like grape
The feelings I had for you
How they filtered away like wind
The dreams I had of you
How they disappeared into thin air
The plans I had made for you
How they all refused to lift up, off the papers
If I had the opportunity to do them again
I promise I would, even to the best
But I promise something
It is never going to be for you!
