Do You Really Want To Live In The Past? Poem by Ronald Chapman

Do You Really Want To Live In The Past?

Today, chivalry may be dead.
Today, we find life confusing and complicated.
Life is moving too fast!

Do you really want to live in the past?

A world without sanitation,
Ravaged by diseases,
Bubonic plague,
Smallpox!

No freedom or liberty,
No women's rights!
Women could not vote.

Do you really want to live in the past?

No running water,
Women carry buckets to the bath.
No mouthwash,
No toilet paper.

Do you really want to live in the past?

Romanticized images of the past are really all fantasies.
