Diya Poem by DEEPAK KUMAR PATTANAYAK

Diya

Rating: 5.0

The day is done;
Slowly and steadily
The light is gone
Above shining no moon
Lying like a slender
Silver crescent bone
And in the darkness
The sacred Diya is born
I wonder how bright
Will be Diya tonight
Above stars twinkling
Beneath Diyas sparkling
Crackers cracking
Fireworks dazzling
Lo! Diwali is here tonight
The sweet smell of flowers
The array of colors
It might gust tonight
Tomorrow could bring
Barely a breeze, barely a light
Ah! Gods of heaven
Stars, Planets all come
To celebrate this holy light
At the sight of which
Children, young, old,
Looking happy and bright
Ah! My dear Moon
Come, join and shine
To us be a boon
Don't look pale and gloomy
For Diyas are here for you to shine and bloom............
