Diversions (American Attitude) Poem by Edwina Reizer

Diversions (American Attitude)

Diversions, diversions for our brain,
you choose one or the other.
You won't have to think for a few hours.
The diversion will help to smother
all the problems of the day
and make your headache go away.

Choose a sport or American Idol
and forget about the mess
that will meet you in the morning
and bring on all the stress.

Look for a job. None in sight?
Pay the bills. Money's tight.
Price at the pump out of sight
and you spend the day depressed.
It's not even worth getting dressed.
Afraid of the news? You got the blues?
Whatever you do you know you lose.

It's time to relax and watch TV.
It's diversion time once more.
These are the best hours of your day.
Tomorrow the lion will roar.
And you will leave your couch.
Another struggle to face is here.
Can't wait for your diversion
and an ice cold can of beer.
