Distant Shores

These tears I shed,
create the ocean,
that has become my life

I am stranded at sea,
without a life jacket,
and no rescue ship in sight

From angry shores,
to rocky cliffs,
dark waters chill my heart

Washing my sad spirit,
out to sea,
a castaway from the start.

I long to be,
a graceful bird,
on wind ward flight

Escape from these,
dark stormy seas,
until the mornings light

And rest my weary soul at last,
on distant shores tonight
