Distant Love Poem by Lilyann Monahan

I have to be fearless,
in a fearful fate.
where love and dreams,
don't come true.
I've thought for years this was my answer,
It's not his answer due.
I should have realized long ago,
this was unrequited love.
I don't know what took me so long,
It was a sign from God above.
I suppose I have to let him go,
and accept the human fact,
my skies may be dark for a while, even black.
I have to write a small amount at a time,
there's so much I need to learn,
but anytime there's one-sided love,
in my life it does turn.
