Discovery



At last the happy truth is out—
Port-wine is not the cause of gout.
Far more responsible for pain
Are kidney, liver, sweetbread, brain.
The clubman should, by any means,
Avoid anchovies and sardines:
And citizens of every sort
Owe some apology to port.
