Dimples Poem by Sandra LampeMartin

Dimples

Long ago in the mists of time
From high above this mortal climb
Wee dimples by Mother Nature sent
On a journey, into the world they went

Past fields of flowers and babbling brook
To the world below to find their work
Down through sky and fleecy cloud
Unto the earth so blithe and loud

They danced on moonbeam rays
Frolicked and played on sunny days
Finally to earth’s dominion they came
To make history gaining their eternal fame

In aimless joy they made their merry way
Down through forest and flower to play
On butterfly wing and bird nest edge
‘Til they came to a window ledge

Within Lady Moon cast a light
Making the cradle within so bright
Beheld the dimples, a newborn child
Soft and sweet, tiny, delicate and mild

They sighed at the lovely, angelic sight
A babe in a crib, all wrapped in white
Oh yes, to rest on those rosy cheeks
They thought to recline for weeks

Then came dawn and dimples wake
Wondering their leaves to up and take
The birds sang so sweet and loud and long
Waking baby with their lilting morning song

The dimples peeked from their cheeky bower
Causing the wee babe with smiles to flower
At last the dimples found their calling
Peeking out each time with smiling

Mother Nature looked with pride
Observing where small dimples hide
Enhancing the smile on a babies cheek
As they forever play a game of hide and seek.
