Diminishing Radiance Poem by Saskia Harjono

Diminishing Radiance

It's just not easy to stop loving somebody
Cutting the petals that bloom
Ignoring all the buds that grow
When my soul is the fertile soil
Growing all the love for that very person
Reaching out for the fading dreams

One day at a time
Suppressing hopes of what might have become
Were the world I'm living in, perfect

Until one day
I find myself completely decomposing,
Exhaustingly bled dry,
Before tenderness sprinkles this weary heart of mine - again
