Dilemma Poem by Piyush Dey

Dilemma

I should forget you
Yes, that is prudent,
But how can i do that,
even if i want to?
You are after all a reality,
not a mere dream.
Here, the condition of my
heart is so unfortunate
That is has been unable to
forget the chain of events
That never took place,
That one thought
which was never voiced,
That one conversation
i couldn't have with you,
That one connection
that we never had,
I remember everything
that never happened.

THE CHAIN OF EVENTS THAT NEVER TOOK PLACE Only a poet who feels and thinks deeply could come up with this amazing notion! Perhaps some other poets have done so elsewhere but the only one I am aware of is YOU. It is a poignant idea which may not change things for you but it certainly shows you (and us readers) why certain feelings persist even when unrequited. We naturally want the proverbial happy ending in our lives but when that is not to be at least we have KNOWLEDGE. Your poem gives us that knowledge.
