I stand out.
I'm not normal.
I try to fit in,
By not being myself.
(but) I've come to learn,
That that does no help.
Just let me be different,
Let me be original.
I hate to show up,
with true me in dispuise.
If you want it to last,
Don'y look in my eyes.
Because there s another me,
The different me,
The one that you just don't see...

I love to spend time thinking about the differences among people. We do not celebrate them enough I feel it is so lucky that all of us are very different. Of course in school we want to fit in and be popular But those not fitting in, are often the most succesful people later on. I think it is because they learn very early how to cope with disappointment with criticism and with rejection. They learn to enojy the small pleasures and be patient There is inside myself always this pull between two oppsoing forces One wants me to be different, , the other one wants me to fit in. I am sure we need to search for the middle path. Be different enough to make a positive difference in the world FIt in enough so you can make a positive difference in the world. Perhaps, I am thinking much further than the poem was meant to be, but that is what great poems do, they take the reader on a ride, provoke lots of thoughts and emotion and this poem is really an excellent one.
