Did We Really Need To Invent Wars? Poem by Terence George Craddock

Did We Really Need To Invent Wars?

Rating: 5.0

Comets Meteors Volcanoes Earthquakes Tsunamis!
Tornadoes Hurricanes Floods Droughts Wild Fires!
Tidal Waves Avalanches Landslides Thunderstorms!

Cold Ice Snow Hail Dust Storms Famine Pestilence
Plague Contagious Diseases... Global Warming?

go figure
as if nature
did not have enough...

natural disasters
we had to go invent
more? More?

were there not enough
natural disasters?
were there not enough
natural diseases?

Did we really need to invent Wars?

I've long thought that humanity has convinced itself that it could improve upon nature. You've addressed a similar idea in this gem. Brilliant, Terry.

Humanity normally destroys the balance in ecosystem with introduced species that become pervasive, we create extinction events, we pour pollution toxin into the sea for decades then get surprised that we have created massive dead zones off the coasts of major world cities; soon companies will begin large scale mining of underwater sea mounts for precious metals like gold, gems like diamonds and iron-manganese, hydrothermal iron oxide, sulfide, sulfate, sulfur, hydrothermal manganese oxide, phosphoriterelease but they will destroy marine environments. Even disregarding the water pollution from waste, vast amongs of arsenic will be released and if seamounts collapse they can cause tsunamic events. Already the oceans of the world contain 1 ton of plastic for every 3 tons of fish, by 2050 it will be 1 ton of plastic for every ton of fish. In the 1970s when I read in the book of revelation of every fish being dead, no life in the sea, it was not realistic but undersea mining of seamounts could easily achieve this. Deeper drilling in the sea will cause a massive disaster in the future, it is not a case of maybe, it is a case of when. These are all soft terrorist targets, impossible to defend. Yes we can sometimes improve on nature, but if we continue to cut the rainforests, pollute the oceans creating massive dead zone, we will need to restore basically create a new earth with new lungs, the technology exists to restore the hole in the ozone layer but no one wants to pay the cost. We are an interesting species, interesting times.
