Desperate Temptation Poem by Megan Reily

Desperate Temptation

Temptation
Desperation

Why want something
I can never have?
Why care for something
I can never touch?

Temptation
Desperation

Thoughts move at high speed
Blood sours through veins
Like it’s going to be late
Late to catch me looking
At you

Temptation
Desperation

Just out of my reach
Though I can feel the graze
Wash over my fingertips
So close
So far away

Temptation
Desperation

Just go away
Just leave me alone
I cannot stand seeing you
Whenever my eyes close

I don’t want to feel it anymore
Temptation
I don’t want to live it anymore
Desperation
I just want to be alone

Alone in thoughts
Alone in mind
Alone in feeling
Always alone
Always waiting
