Despair Poem by Boston Kelley

Despair

A thick black cloud falls upon me
Darkening the light in my soul;
Of radiance, there is none to see
As what was warm becomes cold.

Into the new year I step unwillingly
And abandon the old of yesteryear.
Yet, why am I so melancholy?
Why from gentle joy do I veer?

Shackled I am to dreadful Despair
For He has made me His captive
And with an ever insufferable glare
Does He watch me, always active.

Abundant anger He makes my torment,
This weary man finds himself spent.
