Desire Poem by Amethyst Lehman

Desire

I strike the match and watch the flame spark into life
When I touch it to the mixture of paper and cedar
The flames burst into vibrant reds and yellows
They hipnotize me as they dance and grow higher

The smoke rises into the air in clouds of grey
Mixing into the midnight breeze

Waves of warmth tickle my icy skin
As it sends shivers down my spine
My thoughts consuming me....

I feel a chilled breeze
The embers glowing softly
A scent of cedar smoke
Still hiding in the air
As i say goodbye
