Unintelligible Susurration

Deserted

Walking in
The deserted town
With owls hooting
Their farewell

I feel like
I am the only person
Left in this place

Houses crumbling
In abandoned fields
With wilted flowers
And stray, hungry cats

The world
Has stopped spinning
Time is frozen in place
Yet I walk on
Only looking forward

They've spared me
To save themselves
And not feel
What it is
To be in a desert

Poem of the Day

poet Dante Gabriel Rossetti

Young Love lies sleeping
In May-time of the year,
Among the lilies,
Lapped in the tender light:
White lambs come grazing,
White doves come building there:
