Desert Flower Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Desert Flower

Rating: 3.3

I am in interior part and known as desert flower
Rain is in scarce and rarely known what is called shower
May look some what strange but yes a reality
What else can be ruled out as distinct possibility!

Only tribes reside with almost nothing on hand
Exposed to hostile weather ands sans real friends
Not a loud cry may even reach to kind and sympathetic ears
Not for days, weeks, months or even long and unbearable years

I speak on behalf of uncared for female Falk
Where they have no freedom to raise voice or talk
Forget about dissention or torture but simple honor!
But simple mention of atrocities on even minor

“Children are messenger of God “simple established fact
Female children are not curse but needed care and kind act
Some of the tribes in Africa expose them unknown cruelty
Cut their vanes in unorthodox way so as not to have any fertility

Thousand die due unavailability of proper sanitation
Operation is carried out by simple long blade leading to part amputation
This is only done so female does not turn unfaithful after marriage
Only two passages are kept open for urinal passage

Only five years of age and so much cruelty with the connivance of mother
Not with the help of expert or trained nurse but by others
Just to follow the old tradition even at the cost of precious life
So daughter is not turning disloyal after becoming wife

It is not only belief but done with strong conviction
Large amount is paid for such females for addition
They are accepted as bride for people of old age
Such swift is treatment on female tribes and kept in cage

They feel removal of some parts make them less sexy
Always obey the orders and remain at their mercy
What else can be use of females in such illiterate states?
Where human values are sold for nothing but so much worth to state

I applaud your courage and beautiful spirit that brings this into focus for the entire world to view. Mistreatment of our sisters and mothers is not any good thing. It is a horror and monsterous. I do not understand how it is allowed to go on. I do not understand why the participants would think it is OK. It is a total and complete mystery how it is not put down in some way. Thank you for doing your part to bring it into view for people perhaps to work some powers of good to come to the front at last. I am honored to read your poem.............Jim Troy
