Descent Into Hate Poem by Wilma Horne

Descent Into Hate

A chill runs down her spine
As she comes to realize
How much she hates him
For what he did
For breaking her beyond repair

She had come to love him
To care about him
She even allowed herself
To get closer to him
To let him in

It was difficult for her to do
She even explained that to him
Thinking that he'd understand
And she really thought he did
Until that fateful day

On that day he told her
How he didn't care in the same way she did
That his heart belong to someone else
It shook her to the core
She couldn't believe it
She didn't believe it

One day she called him on it
And he gave her proof
Showed her that it was true
She ran away from him
With tears in her eyes
And words of hate on her lips

She tried to apologize
But he wouldn't listen
Told her that she was crazy
Then walked away with no backward glance
She crumpled to the floor
As her heart shattered

It was on that day
She came to hate him
And lost hope

Now her walls are taller
And stronger than ever
Now she's scared
To let anyone in
Now she's broken beyond repair
And full of hate

I'm truly sorry that you're having to go through that. I know if my lady wanted and needed to talk to me I'd be there in a heart beat. Good piece.
