Derby Poem by john wake

Derby

Pride pulls,
Dragging, you dive into its games,
All walls are null,
Grabbing corners has no aims.

Self-regard sells success,
Her the dancing dame
Hips, hypnotizing as she comes

To war, we will win!
Because, belle calls
Her jewels, draw you in
Stars, similar to treasure stones, fall
Deep! Piercing pupils, pulled into your mind,
Dance, unwind
We, victors, always win.

Apollo, Adam of victors,
A god of gratifications
Why taunt the toddler,
she seduces your heart,
Sleeping, cupid has no reactions.

“Wake saucy boy, you toddler.
A battle to start.”

Humility, her heart
On cupids arrow.
Alas! two drawn, one darts
Daphne.
The other prides servant, morphine
Like sensations.
Chains the champion of all souls,
In handcuffs of natures most fragile matter,
Love.
