Demon Within Poem by Wright Palafox

Demon Within

Simply a husk of mortal clay,
Feasting and festering to this day…
Vulnerable and weak against my sin,
How could I slay this demon within?

A ghastly being of darkness galore,
Myths and tales of nightmarish lore,
All told of this evil beneath my skin…
How could I slay this demon within?

Oh please believe! This isn’t me! ?
Those lies and forbidden acts, can’t you see
Underneath the poor core, a twisted grin!
How could I slay this demon within?

The perverse truths and pain I’ve inflicted
To my loved ones; my apology unwanted?
For they love and understand me, such it has always been!
Even if I possess this demon within…

I love them and they love me,
And with my faith in God, now YOU’LL see!
All this as an exorcism, I shall win…
I hereby purge YOU, demon within!

(P.S. this isn’t literal)
