DEMISE OF DEMOCRACY

It’s time again to show your strength

Beat your own drums

Blow your trumpets

With false promises

Assure them with non-assurances

They are forgetful fools

Never remember Nandigram, Singur,

Godhra, Mumbai, Parliament or Trade-Centre

Throw away some doles

They will be happy

Or some free poppy-seeds for boozing

This is nothing but electioneering

They tend to forget past

History, records of their leaders

Because they are valuable voters

Criminals scam-stars frauds

All are welcome in this bandwagon

Even if the party fails, they win in tons

The largest democracy or the greatest

All are passing through a test

Why so many bankruptcy, failures

Still they continue their tenures

One great leader once said, ‘democracy is

Of the people, by the people, for the people”

This is now turned into

“Of the fools, by the fools, for the fools.”

As long as fools exist to believe the words of candidates on the eve of election, no wonder, politicians will make capital out them after the election. The voters should be educated by an independent organization about their voting rights and privileges etc.

Even with my eyes and ears closed, I'll agree what most people say about the people in white. Er, I think the correct word is 'false' instead of 'falls'. (4th line from top) . Good write. Strikes the right amount of desparation in all of us, aggravated by the oncoming elections. Oh, Woe! ! ! Cheers. Subroto
