Delusions Poem by Scott Stevenson

Delusions

Rating: 2.0

don't be so foolish
to think
the worlds' an oyster
for you.
it's all in the way you're dreaming.
there's no validity behind it.
don't look for diamonds
in a sea of glass.
you're in the wrong moment,
you're not together enough
to be climbing mountains.
the sun is hiding his eyes from you;
you're still
crouched in the dark.
don't be ridiculous
and think
the stars are lining up
for you.
nobody is watching you. nothing is growing.
no bells ring, no river runs,
no cars go
to take your body home.
clouds are still turning black
above you,
and you aren't getting any happier.
you're not as important
as you imagine.
you're not so strong, not amazing at all.
don't be stupid
and think that
you're getting any better,
'cause you're not.
