Delayed Goodbye



I lie suffocated beneath these battered dreams
never asking why life never seems to leave me
though I have tried and pray it will
as ragged as it gets my breath refuses to still
death sits somewhere caressing my name
sending teasing kisses my way
life is a beautiful thing you see
but sometimes its the beauty that causes the most pain to be
