Defeated Poem by Windsor Guadalupe Jr

Defeated

As I cast my anguished nets
Over the waters that
Flame icily,
The undisturbed pace
Of the stars
And
The harlequin grin
Of the moon
Lose the celestial
Aroma.

The verve seeps from
The trenches that whittle
In a dithery burst -

Yes, I cast my anguished
Nets to snare
These moribund treasures;
I failed over the seas,
Underneath the stark
Night.
