Deeper Into The Sea Poem by Joseph Narusiewicz

Deeper Into The Sea

These little cults fall apart
You're left with yourself
The sea like a friend or a monster
Sky encloses the unfettered psyche
Stars and eternity
Romance stripped into abandoned shells
Our integrity more and more illusion
Idols no longer work

The sands like mercy in the moonlight
Waves singing of angels
Human spirit in a totalitarian collar
We hide until we become the prison
Dark gray walls with no photos
Candles light the grotto
Opaque eyes like perfect fear
The brave recede like reservations

Will the sea give up it's dead?
Your moon glows on my island
Gratitude exists for the prisoner
Captive in time amidst the accusers
You call me and I tell you I hear
Their paranoid eyes are real
We stroke the moonlight sea
Love always seems to take us deeper

Deeper into the sea of eternity
