Dedication Poem by Victor Cruickshank

Dedication

As I sat down on that cold rainy spring morning
To go or not to go I thought
The cold from the weather left me wondering
What could have been worse than yesterday's class I taught?
I was late to school but not by my will
I wanted to leave early but I had to pay my bill
When I finished paying them, oh what a thrill
At last to be with my students again
Just at the intersection there came a train
It was as long as the road
And also near by was a swamp with a jumping toad
To go or to return I thought to myself
I could call in sick after all I am a little sick
I could tell them to work on the things in the shelf
I could go home and eat some pizza
And avoid going to the forest to catch tick
But no I said to myself, to the school I must go
But then I saw my favorite pie
A pie to which I had a tie
It was KFC's famous chicken pot-pie
But again I said to myself to the school I must go
So I parked my car safely on that street named Beverly
I got out from my car and walked through the rain, sleet and snow
I ran towards the school, and when I got there the school was closed
I was mad, when I read the note that the school is closed
Why did they not send me a note
I read the school's website and I noticed it said "SCHOOL IS CLOSED"
So I went towards the back and opened my door
That was the day I taught an empty class
Instead of going home, eating pizza and at least playing a game of chess
But nonetheless I will stay and do my job, but as soon as the weather is good
I will ran out and leave the school.
