December Poem by DEEPAK KUMAR PATTANAYAK

December

December
- - - - - - - -
What means this dawdling move?
And Nature's guests have ceased to rove
Sinews as soft as of a dove
Pace slowed down by a thing unknown
Where is that vibrant youth gone?
And for a tiny food morsel, squirrel
Runs here and there to gain
From place to place birds flit
Looking for seeds to fill their nest
What once had colour
Has now changed to brighter hue
And the crest of the mountain
Filled with its wondrous view of snow
The days growing shorter
And the nights longer
His soft and cold hands slowly
Wrapping around us unaware
Leaves fall and fly away in fear
Though he has blossoms
Rich and rare still to spare
Drawing ever near
Is our dear December

COMMENTS OF THE POEM
Valsa George 23 October 2014

As December comes in, the splendour of Autumn ceases and grains and fruits become scarce! Some animals go for hibernation and most of them find it difficult to have enough to satisfy their hunger! Though in our country, it is not severe winter, still mountain tops get covered with snow and many trees go bare! Enjoyed the poem!
