Deceived Poem by Wendy Bureau

Deceived

Rating: 4.3

Struggling, sinking in sadness
Bruised, beaten down again
Manipulated, heart naive
Believing once, you were a friend

Trusting words you whispered
With love, held near and dear
Easing the soul of sorrow
Pain slowly, disappeared

Smiling in satisfaction's wake
Thought perhaps you were the one
A completion of my person
Soul's hunt for love, now done

Plotted, planned and persecuted
To perfection, the master plan
Payback, like a childhood prank
Masterfully crafted, by evil’s hand

Laughing in the face of fidelity
A player of skin delight
Compassion drained and bled
Sick in your glory, without fight

Winner of wanton deceit
A Houdini of the heart
Fooled from the beginning
Deceived, lost, torn apart
