Death's Door Poem by Tess Connor

Death's Door

I wanted to tell you sooner, I was gonna tell you before
How I’ve been lingering the end, awaiting death to answer the door
I could bang a little louder, try tapping on the glass
If I’m lucky it’ll shatter and death’ll arrive at last
I could see my life go by, flash before my eyes
Listen to deafening silence forever, no longer deafening lies
Gliding like a boat in the water, sailing in a race
Falling to my heavenly hell, dropping doubts off my case
What’s finished is the end and what’s done is done and dusted
I failed at the game of life, I tried and now I’ve busted
