Death's Child Poem by Janelle Morehart

Death's Child

Moonlight shines
Pure and clear
Glowing headstones
Shining in thise bright light
This light of souls
Red sprinkles the ground
Surrounding a girl
She walks as if in a dream
A flowing white dress
That comes to her ankles
Made of a blinding white lace
Billowing around her
Like a gentle cloud
The red follows her as she walks
Humming her soft song
A soft lullabye
A song for the dead to hear
As she comforts them
Sending them peacefully on their way
Once in awhile she will pause
Talking to a restless spirit
And leave red at its headstone
Then she continues on
That same song carrying on
As the petals float and flow everywhere
Petals of red
Blood red in fact
They never die
Nor will they be seen in the morning
No, they'll be gone then
Then at night
She does her job once again
Spreading the red
Releasing the song trapped within her being
Dark hair
Ivory skin
Eyes so wonderously mysterious
Light then Dark
All light
Then all dark
She's the Death Child
She bares it all on her shoulder's
She's the daughter of the death angel
Someday she shall escort the dead
But for now she is content with what she has now
Singing her sad yet beautiful song
Comforting those long dead and forgotten
Or to those newly dead and afraid
She comforts them all
Singing her song all night long
The red flowing around her feet
As she continues on
Dissappearing at the Sun's arising rays
Till again
Till the night comes
And she repeats it once again
And again
And yet again
She is Death's Child
Doing what she's best at
Untill the day
Death becomes her's
And she shall escort them all
One by one
To their new sanctuary
Heaven or hell
She'll take them there
But untill then
Untill that day
She shall remain the graveyard child
Comforting and quiet
Except for that song that goes on and on
Sun rises then sets
Moon arises
And another night comes
She goes back to her job once again
Forever this cycle
Forever and ever
Then forever more
She is Deaths child
Doing what she does best
