Death My Old Friend Poem by jessie knaggs

Death My Old Friend

the man sits wondering what he did with his life
he sees the wife who left him the son who hates him
he sees his family looking at him with shame without any love
he sees the years in the army all the pain in death he saw all around him that time in the army changed him forever and he would never be the same when he came home all he did was sit on the couch with a bottle of jack in his hand always drunk no one wanted to be around him anymore he finally closes his eyes and takes a bottle of pills and ends it saying goodbye to all the pain and anger that led him here he opens his eyes and death is standing there saying its time to go the man isn't scared he reaches up and takes deaths hand and walks with him like a old friend finally free of all his pain
