Death In The Fourth Floor! Poem by Dr.V.K. Kanniappan

Death In The Fourth Floor!

Mother has no worries
...to join with the elders
in the family who died early
...and live in heaven!

But she is worried about getting down
...through stairs in bedsheets as parcel
with deadly weight as corpse after death
...without getting injury!

Note:

Many of the multistoried house flats don't have lift (elevator) provision to carry stretchers for transporting the ill to the hospitals and transport the dead to the cremation.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Hi,
This poem 'Death in the fourth floor' is a translation of a Tamil poem by Poet K.Ravishankar.
