Death Poem by Custous Angelus

Death

For eons it went around the world
For eons it never rested
People pictured him as a hideous being
Laughing at the people
Sitting at his throne at the top of mountain of bones
No one saw him
Or rather no one lived to tell the tale
It was a beautiful being
With sad grey milky eyes and huge ash-wing
For eons it took people’s lives
The lives of young and old
Of poor and rich
Of good and bad
For eons it heard the cries of desperate people
People didn’t know how sad it was
Looking down on earth
Its milky eye crying
If only they knew how fragile it is
One day an old man on his deathbed saw him
And he smiled, a welcoming smile
Then death’s milky eyes got clearer
He has seen a rare smile
And he returned the smile too
Good bye old man
