Death Poem by Temitope Adebowale

Death

In the face of death, we are reminded of our FLAWS
We are reminded of our WEAKNESSES, of our MORTALITY.
In every of our SMILE, in every FILTHY BREATHE of ours,
We know we have done one less of it before DEATH.

In the face of DEATH, we see what VANITY we have chased,
We see our whole life FLASH past within seconds.
In the hope of IMMORTALITY, some embrace it.
Some don't, 'perhaps, immortality is a MIRAGE', they think.

For those about to DIE, it is hard for most
to embrace it,
For where YOU KNOW is better than where you don't know.
For those left behind, it is hard to let go of the GRIEF,
For some, it is the thought of when will it be THEIR TURN.

All in all, we are reminded of our MORTALITY,
Of our VULNERABILITY, of our WEAKNESSES, and of our FLAWS,
whenever a BROTHER falls.
This is for you, brother, REST IN PEACE

1 Corinthians 15: 53-57
