Death Poem by Herbert Nehrlich

Death

Rating: 3.5

She smiled the smile
that only flowers know
while dew drops fell
and petals opened
to frosty winds
of early Spring.
She knew of time
its mangled end
yet gave her heart
heart of a rose
with happiness
deep in her soul.
And death would not
defy its master
it came with measured
leaden steps
and smiled the smile
that means the end
when dew drops freeze
in frosty winds.

Herbert how perfect, a short poem with so much meaning and so much love. When I read a poem like this, it makes me feel that I am glad to be alive, although Death is it's tital, to me every thing springs back to life, a full cicle of perfection.cheers Sylvia

I like 'measured leaden steps' - I think this is a poem that you get something new out of everytime you read it. Nice poetic techniques Herbert.
