Dearest Dad Poem by Bernice Shipman

Dearest Dad

Dearest Dad,
You've been gone for a year and to us you were very dear
To us you were the light of our life and you loved us with all your might
You were always there when need be
Whether for me or a friend in need
The grandchildren thought you were grand
Because you could lift them above your head with one hand
You were your family's pride and joy
Mother could not have loved you more
Now you're in God's great band
I pray he loves to hear you play the way we did
You have left us great memories of a beautiful and wonderful man
And we'll all someday be togeather again
So until then Dad may you be with peace
And know how much you're loved and missed in our own little band
