Dear True Love, Poem by Carlos Gutierrez

Dear True Love,

Rating: 5.0

Dear true love,
Forgive me, for I have been naive.
And even in the circumstances where my tongue has been stilled by fear,
My heart has remained persistent.

My voice might have been stolen by the grasp of safety,
Yet my spirit attempts to untangle itself from its anchor.

Dear true love,
Forgive me, for I have been given cowardliness,
And have strayed from courage.

Please, I dare beg of you,
Overlook my deficiencies and imperfections,
For all I have has been bestowed upon you.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I was about to brush my teeth when the first couple of lines came to me. I stopped and headed straight for the computer to write them down, the rest just came from a personal experience.

We may have the power to say many things in life beautifully but when we truly mean them, we come alive, especially when those words don't come out from maybe barren lips but from the bottom of our hearts!
