Dear Taslima Look Beyond Poem by Sharbaniranjan Kundu

Dear Taslima Look Beyond

Taslima, you are going beyond.
I admired you, one so bold.
The talk about male dominated society made me linient.
I was never happy with those who guarded religion
pronouncing unthinkable fatwas.
A person can not surely be so strong
as to topple practices of a millenium and a half
of millions!
When you convert
you should allow conversion within self.
A person is supreme.
Eschew, if you do not like.
Abhor, if you like.
Detest, if unpleasant.
Do not call to share in pain and pleasure.
Let the person live in a separate world.
Do not deport.
Do not make the person important
speaking for or against.
But Taslima, you are going beyond.
Life is not about perverted domination.
Life is about sharing.
Man is drawn towards women for qualities he lacks.
So too women.
Let them be as they are
with their masculinity and femininity.
Let them be handsome and beutiful.
Who said men dominated the ages?
It is the women who nurtured and pushed him outdoors
to do the tough job, the contendations.
You served your end too
bewitching, like men used brute force.
Probably you never met the right men.
Some men lack imagination.
You can blame only God for that!
Men did not make you women!
You live like a man if you want.
Need will dictate men and women their roles
in their sojourn to this earth!
You can do little.
You will get your due share of admiration.
You will have the life you want
if you are lucky.
If not, then so many do not!
What can be done?
Taslima, do not go beyond the point
where admiration comes to naught.
