Dear Sister 28.11.13t

It's Thanksgiving
It's your Birthday
It's a day which I'm thankful for
Why wish you a happy day when you deserve so many more
So I wish you great health for the rest of your life
I know you'll be happy
No reason to lie
I've told you so many times
And I'll tell you so many more:
Dear Sister,
I love you.
You're the best one for sure!
Always looked up to you as my role model.
I'd say, my one and only.
While my classmates obsessed over sports stars and singers, I would think of you and love you so much more.
My classmates always spoke of hatred, how their siblings were despicably annoying, antagonizing.
I laughed to myself.
I was the one always breaking your things
Always pulling your hair
Jumping on your bed
Whining to play games
While you slaved away
People: classmates, friends, adults, often ask me how's my relationship with you, my half-sister.
And I always reply, Well, we're reallly close! I lovee her!
You always invite me to hang out with friends. My age didn't matter; you loved me. You always got me the most perfect presents without even asking! Most times I really did not expect a thing, for I didn't ask nor did you ask me! Yet, every holiday and birthday I receive a package so delightful and touching. You warm my heart. I love being with you. I love our trips, road trips cross-country and to aquariums and zoos! I knew I liked Thanksgiving, but hey, now I really love Thanksgiving and Christmas too! Family is what counts. Not the presents. Not the food. Of course, those are quite important too! But what counts is kinship: the bonds, support, warmth, and guidance which come from it. Knowing that we are not and won't ever be alone
Not in our struggles or our joys
These are times to reach out
And embrace the substance which we know is there.
You know, sometimes life is full of surprise
Good or bad is a nature we decide
And perspective is what makes the difference
Perspective sees solutions and maximizes joy
Perspective can drown ourselves in frustration and despair
It's the choices we make which define our lives
Not the obstacles which smack us in our ways
Society judges most everything
But what counts is the inner you
And when you can define yourself
And are sure that society cannot change you into anyone less, anyone else
That is when you'll find peace in yourself
Wherever you go, whether typhoon, earthquake, ice, or snow, you'll be happy like no one else you know :)
Dear Sister,
I love you.
You better remember! I know that you know: 3
