Dear Mom And Dad Poem by Conrad Reed

Dear Mom And Dad

I am here today in honor of a magnificent pair.

Who through the years has given me a family which no other can compare.

Mom and dad have celebrated all of my special days.

And so I'd like to take this time to shower them with praise.

A mother who had the courage to pick up and begin again.

I would like to let her know I appreciate all you have done now and back then.

You left with 4 young children and a cat we called 'Smurf'.

Who knew that 2309 Booker St in East Winston would be our new turf.

A dad who took on 4 more children after raising a group of his own before.

Although you may yell, scream and shout, I very much adore.

John gave Ruth the ring on December 23,1987, knowing the new challenge that he would face.

For all of us who have seen him drive, should have known that he was up for the race.

You both pinched every penny and scraped every dime.

We may have had 'Kost Kutter' brand from Kroger but we were well-fed every time.

People may have giggled and gossiped about the odd pair.

But only you needed to understand the love that you share.

You have seen sunny days as well as stormy weather.

Nonetheless, it has now been 20 years and you are still together.

I do not know what the Lord and Saviour has in store.

But I am glad that you have an anniversary to share once more.

I love you both more than words can say.

I have not enough money to ever try to repay.

You have been there for me all of my life.

Once again, I celebrate you as 'Mom and Dad' as well as 'Husband and Wife'.
